East Coast Summer 2007 Trip
Join the Armada!
This summer, join the Barque Picton Castle as she heads North with an armada of traditional sailing vessels taking part in the 2007 Tall Ships Challenge Atlantic Coast. Our ship is one of the very few Class A tall ships available to you to join, as most serve as Navy, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine training ships. This is your opportunity to experience square-rigged sailing and cruise in company with up to 20 other tall ships.
Sign aboard at St. Pierre, Martinique, for the classic ocean passage that will take us from the turquoise waters of the Caribbean to the historic city of Charleston, South Carolina—first stop on the Challenge schedule. This 16-day, deep-sea voyage is the perfect time to learn and hone your seafaring skills away from the distractions of port. At Charleston, there will be lots of fun and fanfare as tall ships from as far away as India, Brazil and Oman, and their international crews, converge for the first of four giant port festivals. Think music and mixers, parades of sail and crew challenges. Other ASTA ports will include Norfolk, Virginia; Newport, Rhode Island; and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Live the life of a tall ship sailor. Steer and stow sails, haul lines and hoist anchors, and go ashore for the most outstanding camaraderie you'll find anywhere. Join us for two weeks or the entire summer.

Although my initial goal was to learn to sail a tall ship, my expereince has reached far beyond my expectations. There is much more to tall ships than just sailing.
