Voyage of the Atlantic World 2008-09

Ever since we first found and sailed the Picton Castle from Norway towards Nova Scotia in 1993 we have longed to sail the ship back to Europe. Now after four world circumnavigations, trips all over the U.S. East Coast, the Great Lakes and the Canadian Maritimes, that is just what we are going to do. The Picton Castle is sailing to Europe and making the 15,000-mile circumnavigation of the Atlantic Ocean.

Cast off on an adventure every bit as rich, epic and powerful as a voyage around the world! Sail from Lunenburg in May 2008 and follow the Westerlies across the North Atlantic for the British Isles and Northern Europe. Call at Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Holland and Germany. Then sail across the English Channel and down the coast of France to Spain, Portugal, and Gibraltar. Explore the Atlantic Islands of Madeira, the Canarys and Cape Verde. Then follow in the wake of Columbus as the Picton Castle sets sail on one of the finest "studdingsail" passages, riding the tropical trade-winds across the mid-Atlantic from Senegal, West Africa, crossing the Equator to Fernando De Noronha, Brazil and onward to the sweet isles of the West Indies.

As crew on this voyage you will experience timeless ports redolent with history, mystique, beauty and drama. But it is the deep-sea passages in this ship that will turn you into a true square-rig seafarer.
