Share in the voyages of the Picton Castle by picking out your own treasure at our Cargo Sale. Items have been selected in ports around the world by the Captain and crew for their workmanship, uniqueness and beauty. The Cargo Sale will take place Saturday July 23 from 10am to 5pm and Sunday July 24 from 10am to 3pm on the Picton Castle wharf in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Although no cargo was carried home on this most recent voyage, we still have some hidden gems in our warehouse that will be sold at excellent prices. Items for sale include solid teak doors from Java, woven baskets from Vanuatu, stone mortar and pestle sets, hand-carved wood panels from Bali, ceremonial kriss swords from Bali, a longboat model from Pitcairn Island, carved wooden tamtams from Vanuatu (great for in the garden), a gros box from Java, hand-woven ikat fabric from Bali, ornately carved headboards and mantlepieces from Bali, a giant bright hand-painted dragon kite from Bali, coconut graters from the South Pacific, and much more.
This Cargo Sale will be part of a larger event on the Lunenburg waterfront - the Lunenburg Wooden Boat Reunion. Drop by the Cargo Sale to shop, then participate in a knot tying or splicing workshop on our wharf, visit the Dory Shop and the Twin Schooners, check out the boatbuilders displaying their boats at the museum, be entertained by Lennie Gallant (at 4pm on Sunday - we're closing at 3pm so everyone can make it to the show!), and watch the start of the Great Lunenburg Schooner Race.
