The Cargo Sale

"It's like something from another era—a time when such exotic goods were only available from the hold of a sailing ship."

Captain Daniel Moreland
Cargo_sale--surrounded_by_exotic_goods

As she sails around the world on her sail training voyages the Captain and her crew trade for beautiful and exotic items. To prepare, the Picton Castle is stowed full of trade items including bales of used clothing, bicycles, and fish hooks.

These items are then traded at remote locations such as Tonga, where they are exchanged for tapa cloth, carvings and baskets, or Pitcairn Island where descendants of mutineer Fletcher Christian offer models of HMS Bounty. Other treasures include black pearls from Mangareva, hand-loomed Ikat fabrics from Sumatra, beaded baskets and amazing teak furnishing from Bali, and dozens of hardwood sea chests.
